Trenton Pre-K Wrap-Around

In accordance with the New Jersey Supreme Court ruling in the Abbott v. Burke case, Trenton’s Public Schools now start at age three. Formerly referred to as the “Abbott” program, this initiative is now called the DOE Preschool Program. While some of this early education service is provided in the public schools, most of it is subcontracted to local child care centers. A child must be a resident of the city of Trenton and have reached his or her third birthday on or before October 1 to start school in September. For a list of contracted preschools for the current school year, see forms at right.

To contact the Trenton Board of Education’s Early Childhood Department directly, call 609/656-4900, ext. 5667, or visit their offices 929 Parkside Avenue in Trenton.
