Family Child Care Homes

Family child care homes provide care for five or fewer children in the home of the caregiver. In New Jersey, family child care providers may voluntarily register with the State. However, Child Care Connection only provides referrals to family child care homes that are State-registered.

If a Mercer County family child care provider does choose to register with the State of New Jersey, Child Care Connection acts as the sponsoring agency for the State in administering Family Child Care (FCC) registration. Our agency registers caregivers in Mercer County who provide child care in their homes and meet the State’s safety, training, and related requirements. Once providers earn their State registration certificate, they must renew their registration every three years. Each year the Child Care Connection registers about 10 new providers and renews the registration of approximately 10 existing providers. (Click here If you are interested in becoming State-registered to provide family child care.)

To confirm that any family child care provider is still State-registered or to schedule an appointment to review a provider’s file, call Child Care Connection’s Resource Development Department at 609-989-7770, ext. 154, 140 or 131.
