The Strengthening FamiliesTM Protective Factors Framework is a research-based approach that emphasizes techniques to support families in building their capacity for healthy caregiving and stronger childhood outcomes. There are five Protective Factors: Parental Resilience, Social Connections, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, Children’s Social and Emotional Competence, and Concrete Supports in Times of Need. This course focuses on the Social and Emotional Competence of Children Protective Factor. This training outlines the importance of social and emotional competence and provides strategies to use with families so they can build their capacity for healthy caregiving.
